How do I edit a transcript?

Correct transcript text, rename speakers, merge duplicate speakers, and keep analysis aligned with the latest transcript.

6 min read

Short answer

Open a completed interview, use the transcript editor to review segments with timestamps, edit text from a segment action menu, and rename or merge speakers as needed.

01

Review the transcript

  1. 1Open the completed interview from the Interviews list.
  2. 2Use timestamps and the media player to compare transcript text with the recording.
  3. 3Search segments or filter to content that needs review.
  4. 4Move through pages when the transcript has many segments.

02

Correct text and speakers

  • Edit an individual segment from its action menu.
  • Add an edit reason when the correction changes important meaning.
  • Rename speakers and assign participant, moderator, observer, or unknown roles.
  • Merge duplicate speakers when the same person was detected more than once.
  • Use edit history or restore original when you need to compare versions.

03

Keep analysis current

Material transcript changes can make existing analysis stale. Regenerate analysis after important corrections so themes, findings, and report references use the current text.
