User guide / Getting started

Create your first research project

Set up a project brief, research questions, retention controls, and the glossary context used by your interviews.

6 min read

Before you start

  • A ScribeFlash account
  • A clear project name
  • At least one research question

01

Open the project form

  1. 1Sign in and open Projects from the workspace navigation.
  2. 2Select New project to open the project setup form.
  3. 3Use a project name that will still be clear when you have several studies in the workspace.

02

Define the project brief

The project form keeps the research scope and data controls together. Project name and at least one research question are required.

  • Add the client or company when the work belongs to a specific organization.
  • Write the research objective as the decision or problem the interviews should inform.
  • Set the expected interview count so the project reflects the planned study size.
  • Choose how long original media should be retained.
  • Attach existing glossary tables when names, brands, acronyms, or specialist terms matter.

03

Add research questions

Research questions become the organizing structure for evidence and the cross-interview matrix, so write questions that can be answered from interview material.

  1. 1Enter the first research question.
  2. 2Add more questions as needed; duplicate a question when a similar structure saves time.
  3. 3Remove empty or redundant questions before creating the project.
  4. 4Create the project. ScribeFlash opens the new project workspace when it succeeds.

After creation, the Project overview lets you add, edit, reorder, or remove research questions. Project settings holds the brief, status, glossary, language, and retention controls.
