Upload and transcribe an interview

Add audio or video files, choose transcription settings, and follow each interview from upload to a reviewable transcript.

7 min read

Before you start

  • An existing project
  • An audio or video recording
  • Enough interview and minute quota for the upload

01

Choose interview files

  1. 1Open the project and select Interviews.
  2. 2Select Upload interviews.
  3. 3Drag files into the upload area or browse from your device. You can queue multiple files.
  4. 4Review the generated interview name and edit it before uploading if needed.

The current upload interface accepts MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, and MOV files.

02

Choose transcription settings

  • Leave language on Auto detect or choose one of the languages offered in the upload form.
  • Use the project glossary tables, or switch to a custom glossary set for this interview.
  • Check the estimated total duration and the available interview and minute quota.
  • Remove accidental or duplicate files from the queue before starting.

03

Upload and monitor processing

  1. 1Select Upload selected files. ScribeFlash uploads up to several queued files while showing progress for each item.
  2. 2A completed upload moves to Queued while transcription is scheduled.
  3. 3Return to the Interviews list to review processing progress and refresh the status.
  4. 4If an upload fails, use Retry on that file. A quota error requires reducing the batch or changing the plan before retrying.

Do not close the upload dialog while a file is actively uploading. Once an interview is ready, open it to review the transcript and speakers.
