Review and edit a transcript

Use synchronized playback, segment editing, speaker tools, review filters, and edit history to clean a transcript without losing its source context.

8 min read

Before you start

  • An interview whose transcription has completed
  • Access to the project containing the interview

01

Review the transcript with the recording

  1. 1Open Interviews and select a ready interview.
  2. 2Use the media player and timestamps to move between the recording and transcript segments.
  3. 3Search segments or show items that need review to focus on low-confidence content.
  4. 4Use the transcript pagination controls when the interview contains more segments than the current page.

02

Correct transcript text

  1. 1Open a segment action menu and select Edit transcript.
  2. 2Correct the text and optionally record an edit reason.
  3. 3Save the edit. The segment is marked as edited and its history remains available.
  4. 4Use View original or Edit history to compare versions. Restore original returns the segment to its original transcription text.

Editing transcript text can make existing AI analysis stale. Regenerate analysis after material corrections so findings use the current text.

03

Clean up speakers and reuse the text

  • Rename detected speakers and assign participant, moderator, observer, or unknown roles.
  • Merge duplicate speakers when the same person was detected more than once.
  • Copy an individual segment from its action menu.
  • Use Download transcript to create a plain-text file from the transcript view.
