Transcribe a file without creating a project

Upload an audio or video file, review its transcript, retry a failed task, and download the complete text.

Short answer

Open Quick transcription, choose an audio or video file and its spoken language, then start. Your task is saved in Quick transcription, separately from research projects. You can return to it after closing the page.

01

Upload and start

  1. 1Sign in, then open Quick transcription from the workspace navigation.
  2. 2Choose one audio or video file. Check the filename, detected duration and remaining monthly minutes before starting.
  3. 3Choose the spoken language, or leave automatic detection enabled. Start the transcription and wait for the upload to finish.
  4. 4The task page shows its status. You can leave the page after the upload completes and return from the task list.

02

Review and download

  1. 1Wait until the task is complete. Play the recording and check speaker names, names and technical terms.
  2. 2Edit any incorrect segment and save your changes.
  3. 3Wait for the complete transcript to load before copying or exporting. A loading error has a retry action; a partial transcript cannot be exported as complete.
  4. 4Copy the full text or download TXT. Research evidence, findings and reports are available in a research project.

When something goes wrong

  • Upload failed: keep the original file, check your connection, and start the upload again.
  • Transcription failed: open the failed task, read the error, and select Retry transcription. You do not need to upload the same file again while its source is still available.
  • Source file unavailable: choose the original file and create a new upload.
  • The worker stopped unexpectedly: interrupted tasks are retried automatically within the retry limit. If the task remains failed, use the retry action or contact support.
  • A retry does not charge the same completed transcription twice. Deleting a task does not restore minutes already used.

Manage your data

Quick transcription is separate from project interviews. Delete a task from its result page when you no longer need it. Account data export and account deletion also include your quick transcriptions.
